Mumbai jumps to third place in the list of billionaire capitals

New York and London are the top cities with 119 and 97 billionaires, respectively, according to the Hurun Rich List study.

Mumbai, the financial center of India, now has 93 members in the affluent elite circle, making it Asia’s billionaire city, surpassing Beijing, according to the Hurun Research Institute’s 2024 Global Rich List.

According to the Shanghai-based institution, with 119 and 97 billionaires, respectively, New York and London dominate the world.

New Delhi has also achieved a noteworthy milestone by securing its spot on this esteemed list for the first time.

According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2024, Mumbai has become the city with the highest growth rate among billionaire capitals worldwide. In only one year, it added an impressive 26 billionaires, putting it in third place internationally and solidifying its position as the billionaire capital of Asia. Furthermore, New Delhi debuted in the Top 10.”

This progress is in line with India’s strong economic expansion, which will be demonstrated by a 7.5% increase in GDP in 2023. Industries including chemicals, autos, pharmaceuticals, and auto parts are among the top industries represented among ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs).

India’s neighbor China leads the list with 814 billionaires. However, its roster of ultrarich individuals declined by 155 from 2022 due to turmoil in the real estate and renewable energy sectors, along with underperformance in the stock market.
