According to OpenAI ChatGPT’s memory will improve :-
OpenAI began releasing memory capabilities to a select group of ChatGPT users this week. The conversational agent will be able to provide more personalized and contextually relevant responses by using its memory to retrieve specifics from previous conversations.
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT’s memory will improve with time as more people use it. For example, ChatGPT could remember a user’s preferred meeting note format, apply their chosen tone and voice automatically when writing blog posts, and tailor birthday card recommendations based on the user mentioning their child’s interests.
Users still have control over ChatGPT’s memory, and if they’d like, they can turn it off completely. They can also select which memories to delete or fully erase using ChatGPT’s settings.

How our memories function
You can ask ChatGPT to recall a specific detail during a conversation, or you can let it gather details on its own. With continued use, ChatGPT’s memory will continue to improve, and you will eventually be able to observe these improvements. As an illustration:
You have stated that headings, bullet points, and an action item summary at the bottom are how you like your meeting notes to be formatted. Ai keeps this in mind and uses it to summarize meetings.
You informed ChatGPT that you are the owner of a local coffee shop. ChatGPT can help you come up with ideas for a social media post commemorating a new location.
You tell me that your toddler daughter adores jellyfish. A jellyfish with a party hat is what ChatGPT suggests when you ask it to design her birthday card.
You’re in control.
Memory can be disabled at any time by going to Settings > Personalization > Memory. You won’t make or utilize memories when memory is disabled.
Simply tell ChatGPT what you want it to forget. Additionally, under settings (Settings > Personalization > Manage Memory), you can view and remove individual memories or clear all of them. The memories in ChatGPT are dynamic and unrelated to individual conversations. They change as a result of your interactions. You must delete the memory itself in order to remove a chat’s memories. How ChatGPT Works :
As an artificial intelligence language model, my job is to process and produce text using knowledge and patterns gleaned from a sizable dataset. Here is a condensed summary of my methodology:
Training Data: A vast collection of text from numerous online sources served as my training dataset. This dataset consists of written materials such as books, articles, and webpages. The model learns to comprehend language patterns, grammar, context, and semantics through the use of the data.
My foundation is a neural network architecture known as the Transformer architecture, or more precisely, GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer). By processing and evaluating input text data, this architecture enables me to comprehend and produce text that is similar to that of a human.
Text Generation: Using the patterns and information I’ve learned from my training data, I create a response once I understand what you’ve said. This entails forecasting the most likely word order based on the input and the background information the conversation has already provided.
Iterative Improvement: I keep learning and getting better based on input from others and fresh information. Even though I am capable of coming up with answers on my own, they might not always be precise or flawless. But over time, I’ll be able to improve my responses and help more effectively with more exchanges and inputs.
Every GPT Model will have own a unique memory.
