Sony has announced a new wearable device and no it is not a TWS earbuds or a smartwatch. The device we are talking about is a wearable air conditioner called Sony’s Reon pocket 5. The device comes as a sophisticated alternative to wearable fans and it can be placed into the back of the shirt or t-shirt.

Sony Reon Pocket 5 supports both cooling and heating. So, it can be used in both winters and summers. It comes with five cooling levels and four warming levels. Also, the device support the Sony’s Reon Pocket 5 tag which acts as a remote sensor that detects the surrounding temperature and makes cooling adjustments accordingly for optimal performance.The device is also compatible with the new Sony Reon Pocket 5 app which is available on both IOS and Android via the App Store, respectively. The device connects via Bluetooth and it supports control for major functions like level adjustments and more.
Additionally, the device Sony Reon Pocket 5 supports an auto start/stop function that allows it to automatically start and stop the device without the need of manual input. The device automatically starts cooling/warming when you simply attach it at the base of you neck, and the device automatically stops when removed and placed on a table, etc.Sony Reon Pocket 5 is the fifth iteration of the wearable air conditioner device. The original modle was launched in 2019. However, the leatest model will be available for purchase via Sony’s official websie in select regions.
A crowdfunded project- Reon Pocket- was recently launched by Sony, and it has already created quite a buzz on social media. The Reon Pocket is a Bluetooth device about the size of a card wallet that utilizes thermoelectric cooling and releases cool air through a small rear panel at the back of a shirt.
Like almost all recent technological gadgets, this too has a mobile application through which you can adjust the temperature. It can also automatically set an appropriate temperature for the weather, according to South China Morning Post (SCMP).
Sony’s product site notes that it has conducted hundreds of simulations, and on hot days, the Reon Pocket can supposedly cool a user’s body temperature by 13 degrees Celsius (23 degrees Fahrenheit). The specs of the device are pretty impressive. It supports iOS and Android, has a battery life of 90 minutes and a charge time of 2 hours, and uses USB-C. Since it’s so small and weighs a mere 85 grams, it’s pretty inconspicuous even if you have to wear a special shirt to use it.
